"Necessity is the mother of Invention"
"Scarcity is the father of Saving"
First quote is very familiar to everyone
But, Second quote dawned during the Israel visit.
Now and then I learnt Israel is a country advanced in technology, agriculture, tops milk production and so on …, But I was also aware of a fact that it is dry land and with very little water resource.
So long time I had a question, How both the contradicting truth can coexist ?
Luckily I had a chance to experience the truth on _______ during the “Farm Exhibition” held in Israel.
Exhibition is a collection of marvellous technology. Being in India for me it looked like “Does technology we see in movie exist real world ?”. For end-to-end, say installing drip tubes to harvesting the final product equipments and devices are there. From controlling even a drop of water to each plant, technology exists. I realised why market leaders like Netefim have their office in Israel.
Most annoying thing I had seen is, like electricity available @ 230V in India, Israel has water pipe network @ optimal pressure that can be readily used for irrigation. Network spans entire landscape and maintained by Government and for irrigation. This resolves both electricity and water crisis. They buy both Water and Electricity from Government but still they produce in excess and they export their products.
We still get both Electricity and Water for FREE but still we are not leaders. Israel scores well in marketing as well by either value-addition of their products or by preserving their product in cold-storage till they get good profit.
